Day Two of AFA’08 was just as entertaining as the first, if not even more so as it was the Cosplay Mania Competition! There were a total of nine groups competing for the title of best Cosplay but it wasn’t just a dress-to-impress fiesta; the teams had to come up with impressive performances to win the hearts of the crowd and judges. Adding to that Ichiro Mizuki, Japan’s “King of Anime Songs” aka "Aniki” (meaning big brother) took the stage by storm with his performance including tracks from the famous "Mazinger Z" & "Captain Harlock" and the fans went absolutely crazy. Interestingly we also noted some really good off-stage cosplays that we feel should have taken part in the competition.
On the other hand the pinnacle highlight of the exhibition is none other than May’n live performance. 30mins before the concert, the entire space around the stage was already filled up by a huge audience hoping to catch a glimpse of the Japanese singing sensation. Some got so bored waiting that they decided to float balloons into the floor hoping to generate some cheers. But everyone went excitedly wild when the hosts came up on stage to announce May’n’s entrance. It was the first time we heard her live, and her amazing vocals mesmerize the entire raving crowd. The only slight disappointment was that the performance was rather short but I guess it was really worth it for most fans out there.
All in all Anime Festival Asia 2008 was undoubtedly a huge success and we will be looking forward to AFA’09. In the meantime the team at Great Deals Singapore would like to congratulate the organizers I-PROMO on this entertaining and successful event!
