LEGO Worlds video game looks uncannily similar to Minecraft

Bet you want to play this

Minecraft is a sandbox exploration game that became so popular it got sold to Microsoft for US$2.5 billion. Less than a handful of years after its release, LEGO has just announced yesterday what seems to be a video game that features a similar gameplay concept as Minecraft.

Available for early access download and a discount on Steam, LEGO Worlds is available for reduced price of $15 and the price will only go up once it officially releases. Early sentiments have been positive and you can find some of the gameplay and screens on Kotaku’s article or read up on the community reviews on Steam.

The question on everyone’s mind now is if LEGO Worlds could take away Minecraft’s longstanding might. As it stands, there are certainly quite a number of LEGO fans worldwide and with the buzz around the new game this week, Microsoft’s acquisition seems very, very risky now.
