Very soon your favourite soft drinks or fruit juices could taste a little different.
That’s because seven major soft drinks manufacturer has just pledged to support the government’s initiatives on fighting against diabetes, a metabolic disease often caused by bad diets and obesity.
Here are the seven industry leaders – Coca-Cola, F&N Foods, Malaysia Dairy Industries, Nestle, PepsiCo, Pokka, and Yeo Hiap Seng. These companies will be committed to reducing the sugar content in their drinks to meet the 12% maximum cap by the year 2020.
Ministry of Health (MOH) estimates the move could potentially reduce sugar consumption from sugar sweetened beverages by about 300,000kg per year.
