7 soft drink manufacturers to reduce sugar in their products following Singapore’s war on diabetes

Soft drink makers to reduce sugar content by 2020

Very soon your favourite soft drinks or fruit juices could taste a little different.

That’s because seven major soft drinks manufacturer has just pledged to support the government’s initiatives on fighting against diabetes, a metabolic disease often caused by bad diets and obesity.

Here are the seven industry leaders – Coca-Cola, F&N Foods, Malaysia Dairy Industries, Nestle, PepsiCo, Pokka, and Yeo Hiap Seng. These companies will be committed to reducing the sugar content in their drinks to meet the 12% maximum cap by the year 2020.

Ministry of Health (MOH) estimates the move could potentially reduce sugar consumption from sugar sweetened beverages by about 300,000kg per year.
