Xiaomi’s new Redmi Note 5 (China) goes on sale today

Not to be confused with the Redmi Note 5 (yes, same name) that was launched in India early in February this year, the new Redmi Note 5 that was unveiled in China this week spots some major differences.

Powered by the latest generation of Qualcomm mid-range processor Snapdragon 636, the new Redmi Note 5 features an almost bezel-less 5.99-inch FHD+ 18:9 display, dual camera with a Sony 12-megapixel sensor, 13-megapixel on the front with facial unlock security and a huge 4,000mAh battery.

The new Redmi smartphone is also loaded with MIUI 9 which comes with new full-screen gestures, a new notification pane, image editor, split screen features and performance improvements under the hood.

With prices starting from just ¥1,099 (S$228.26) for the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage (up to 6GB + 64GB), the new Redmi Note 5 easily tops the list for the best budget smartphone, selling out within minutes after its first flash sale in China today.
