The new Samsung Galaxy A9 is the world’s first Quad-Camera Phone

The race for more cameras

New Samsung Galaxy A9 with 4 cameras at the back

Samsung has just announced their latest mid-range Galaxy A9 smartphone and it isn’t how fast or how big its display is but rather how many cameras it has.

It is the first phone with a quad-camera setup at the rear for capturing four different types of photos:

  • Main Camera – 24-megapixel f/1.7
  • Depth Camera – 5MP f/2.2 for portrait mode
  • Telephoto Camera – 10MP f/2.4 with 2x optical zoom
  • Wide-Angle Camera – 8MP f/2.4 with a 120-degree field of view

Other highlights of the Galaxy A9 phone include 6.3-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display, an Octa-Core processor, up to 8GB RAM, a 3,800mAh battery, 128GB onboard storage and expandable storage via microSD up to 512GB.

Available in Caviar Black, Lemonade Blue, and Bubblegum Pink colours, the Galaxy A9 will be available first in the UK for £549 (S$998) in November later this year.

No word when it will be available here in Singapore except for ‘coming soon‘.
