It's about time

Land Transport Authority (LTA) has just released a new MRT Map which has undergone a makeover since 4 years ago.

The system map which you see below is the final one that will be going up progressively at all MRT stations.

Easier to navigate

The new map now has the Circle Line (yellow) in the middle which, like its name suggests, takes the shape of a circle.

It is also the focal point which offers better orientation for commuters and is much more pleasing to the eye.

Here’s the current map (with older design) for reference.

The new map is not entirely designed by LTA though. They draw inspirations and design cues from other map designers, members of the public with Cliff Tan and Faiz Basha receiving special mentions.

31-year-old Cliff Tan’s design, in particular, went viral on social media earlier this year.

Landmarks & Water Bodies

Besides the redesign, the new MRT Map now also comes with prominent landmarks such as tourist attractions and water bodies from Marina Bay to Sentosa.

Here’s a closer look.

There will also be QR codes for commuters to download the MRT map and fare calculator.

So useful.

According to LTA, the new MRT Map is set to make its debut on Thomson East Coast Line 1 Open House on 11 Jan 2020.
