Good news for commuters in Singapore, especially for those that frequently take buses.
3-Door Double Decker Buses
According to LTA latest announcement, 3-door double-decker buses will soon be a common sight on the roads.
Yes, this one.
Nice.
In addition to a larger capacity and a spacious interior, there will be lots of improvements over the previous generation of double-decker buses including a second staircase and an additional exit door to improve commuter flow.
Passengers, however, will be able to use the third door for alighting only. Entrance to the bus is still limited to the front door.
The new buses will also be equipped with Passenger Information Display Systems which shows the current and upcoming locations to reduce the occurences of commuters missing their stops.
They will also be equipped with stroller restraint and wheelchair bays.
LTA also says the first batch of the 3-door buses will make their way onto the roads progressively starting from the end of this January.
