Mid-Autumn Festival 2021 @ Gardens by the Bay has Sky Lanterns, Miffy Gardens & Origami Crane Trees

Floating sky lanterns in Supertree Grove

Lots of activities and lantern display at Gardens by the Bay to celebrate the mid-autumn festival

With the mid-autumn festival just a week away, Gardens by the Bay is taking the opportunity to attract visitors to their attractions with lantern displays, performances and rabbit-themed decorations.

Blessings theme @ Gardens by the Bay

Based on the theme of Blessings (祈福 in Chinese), this year’s mid-autumn festival in the gardens hopes to bring tidings of good health and better days ahead to visitors and will feature Sky Lanterns floating up a scenic mountainous backdrop of animals and plants.

There will also be a Rabbit Trail in the Golden Garden where visitors can stroll along the path lined with rabbit lanterns in various poses celebrating the festival.

Interactive digital displays located in The Rose will be set against the backdrop of two hanok (traditional Korean house) lantern frames and will feature artworks by Korean traditional artists.

For a modern interpretation of the lantern, AirMesh is the world’s first architectural structure made from 3D printed components in stainless steel, developed by AirLab at SUTD.

Find it at the Dragonfly Lake (opposite Bayfront Pavilion).

Flower Dome Decorations

The main highlight in Flower Dome is the Rabbits Forest which features adorable rabbit lanterns spreading the festive cheer.

Miffy fans will also be able to celebrate the occasion with Miffy and her family and friends, as well as lots of selfie opportunities with the cute Miffy lamps nestled among beautiful flowers in the magical Miffy Gardens.

Additionally, get up close and personal with Miffy in a Meet and Greet session happening at selected times daily from 25 September to 2 October.

Here’s the schedule:

  • 9.30am – 9.45am
  • 11.30am – 11.45am
  • 12.30pm – 12.45pm

Visitors can look out for these Origami Crane Trees, a series of lantern installations featuring 2,000 colourful paper cranes folded and penned with words of blessings by the community.

The lantern displays at Gardens by the Bay will be open to the public from 15 September to 3 October. Outdoor Gardens is free while an admission charge to the Flower Dome applies.
