Daiso will likely open the new outlet in AMK Central sometime later this year
Good news for Daiso fans staying in Ang Mo Kio – very soon you won’t need to travel far for your Japanese goods shopping fix.

Turns out Daiso is finally coming to Ang Mo Kio, although it won’t be located in a mall that most had expected, rather it will be located in the heart of AMK Central in block 712.

The iconic odd-shaped building houses a number of stores prior including bookstores, and even Sportslink (now defunct due to financial woes) and FairPrice at one point but both have since closed permanently.
FairPrice, however, will be returning as a Finest outlet according to Singapore Atrium Sale who spotted the coming soon banner on the ground floor.

Daiso, on the other hand, will presumably be occupying units at the 4th level according to the photo (also courtesy of Singapore Atrium Sale).

We also spotted HDB’s appointed agency CBRE listing retail units for rent in the same building a while back. In the listing description, the 4th level unit measures 10,818 sqft which is roughly the size of 2.5 NBA basketball courts.
It’s not clear, however, if Daiso will be taking over the entire space.

Daiso has yet to announce the new outlet or any opening date yet although some sources have indicated it could open as early as September next month.
